Warm and Cozy Cowl Crochet Pattern
72
Cowls that are this warm and cozy are greatly appreciated when you are outside and the wind is howling. And, they are quite easy to make. Here is a crochet pattern for a simple cowl that will keep you toasty during the winter months.
Materials needed are:
I/9 Crochet Hook
10 ounces worsted weight yarn (4)
yarn needle
Stitches used:
CH - Chain
DC - Double Crochet
Pattern:
CH 34
DC in the 4th stitch from your hook, not counting the stitch on the hook. DC to the end of the chain. Turn.
CH 3. Skip first DC. DC in rest of the stitches to the end of the row, including the turning chain. Turn.
Continue until the piece measures 55-56 inches in length.
Fold the piece in half and lay out on table or any flat surface. Pick up top piece and twist once. Lay back down so edges match.
Holding the two edges together so the ends are touching, stitch together with yarn and yarn needle. Go over this seam twice to ensure it will not come apart. Tie off. Weave in any loose ends.
Now you have a warm and comfy cowl to keep you toasty during the cold winter months. Experiment with the length and width to make different looks.

Myfanwy, I want to have my own knitted cowl scarf. But I don't get DC. I know how to crochet. But I don't know the terms. Can you explain DC please? is it something like Double Chain? Voted up. Waiting for your response.
I love the cowl style neckline. A cowl scarf is a must have--thanks for sharing this project!
